Martin Parr (born 23 May 1952) was a British documentary photographer, photojournalist and photobook collector. He is known for his photographic projects that take an intimate, satirical and anthropological look at aspects of modern life, in particular documenting the social classes of England, and more broadly the wealth of the Western world. His major projects have been rural communities (1975–82), The Last Resort (1983–85), The Cost of Living (1987–89), Small World (1987–94) and Common Sense (1995–99). From 1994, Parr has been a member of Magnum Photos. He has had around 40 solo photobooks published, and has featured in around 80 exhibitions worldwide – including the international touring exhibition ParrWorld,[5] and a retrospective at the Barbican Arts Centre, London, in 2002. The Martin Parr Foundation, founded in 2014, opened premises in his hometown of Bristol in 2017. It houses his own archive, his collection of British and Irish photography by other photographers, and a gallery. (Wikipedia)

Film7.6BelgeselMartin Parr, 1970'lerden bu yana kendine özgü fotoğrafik aynasını korkusuzca bize tutarak modern zamanların en sıra dışı görsel klişelerinden bazılarını ortaya koymuştur. Bazen ciddi, çoğu zaman absürt ama her daim oyuncu bir üsluba sahip olan Parr'ın tüketim toplumuna dair keskin ve iğneleyici yorumları, her zaman tartışmalara konu olmuştur.
FilmBelgeselThis video artfully weaves together a sort of history of Magnum Photos, one of the world's premier photo agencies, with a fresh look at where new Magnum photographers are taking the group. Magnum is more than a traditional photo agency, though, which is not widely known. It is a cooperative of photographers founded in 1947 whose original members tended to focus on documentary-style photography. This focus has developed over the years to become almost an ethos: to compassionately record the human condition.
FilmKomediMüzikShuttleworth travels to the Shetland Islands to test his theory that the further north in Great Britain you go the nicer people are, Shetland being the most far north part of the UK. He meets various Shetland people in unrehearsed situations. Many assume him to be a real person and not a comic creation, though some scenes are acted, particularly parts with famous local tour guide Elma Johnson.
FilmBelgeselHot Spots: Martin Parr in the American South, a thirty minute documentary short, examines the photography of Magnum's most controversial and prolific member as he gathers images for his first commission by a major American art museum, the High Museum of Art in Atlanta. From the first shot at the Cactus Car Wash to the unusual travel tip offered to Martin at the Atlanta Steeple Chase six months later. Psychobillys, tailgate partiers, roller derby teams, art collectors and gamblers...Martin Parr's energy and x-ray vision burn through the South like a modern day William Hogarth's. The film features interviews with Susan Meiselas, Philip Gefter, John Gossage and Julian Cox. Hot Spots shows us Martin Parr at his most outrageous.

Spoof documentary directed by and starring musician/comedian Graham Fellows. Armed only with a handicam and his nerdy inquisitiveness, Sheffield's least fashionable singer-songwriter John Shuttleworth (Fellows) travels to Jersey to discover just how soft it really is down south.
FilmBelgeselShown as part of the BBC's Modern Times series. Think of England shows Parr talking to the many people he encountered in the summer of 1999. He innocently asked people what it took to be English, and this simple question provided many revealing answers.
