Two monks come to a small village to lead a simple life but their first act of charity is to try and seduce one of the village women.

Two girl pen pals and a simple summer in the country. They befriend a woman rumored to be a witch, and end up as amateur detectives when her pet pig is stolen.

A writer, Kamouraska is based on a real nineteenth-century love-triangle in rural Québec. It paints a poetic and terrifying tableau of the life of Elisabeth d'Aulnières: her marriage to Antoine Tassy, squire of Kamouraska; his violent murder; and her passion for George Nelson, an American doctor. Passionate and evocative, Kamouraska is the timeless story of one woman's destructive commitment to an ideal love.

The story, in three stages, of a friendship between three guys. They have taken different paths, but find themselves equally faced with the failure of their lives. The parody is not exempt from what remains a fine analysis of behavior and environment. For these three Quebecers are, in a way, us, as we have been rendered by a society in search of itself.
