Oyuncu · 1902 – 1987 · New York City, New York, USA
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia William Collier Jr. (born Charles F. Gall Jr., February 12, 1902 – February 5, 1987) was an American film and stage actor who appeared in 89 films. William Collier (nicknamed "Buster") was born in New York City. When his parents divorced, his mother, the actress Paula Marr, remarried the actor William Collier Sr. who adopted Charles (the two did share a resemblance) and gave the boy the new name William Collier Jr. Collier's acting experience in childhood, having first appeared on stage at age seven, helped him to get his first movie role at the age of 14 in The Bugle Call (1916). He went on to become a popular leading man in the 1920s and made the transition from silent into sound film, however he retired from acting in 1935, and in 1937 went to work as a movie producer in England. At the end of the 1940s he returned to America and went on to produce drama series for television. He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Film6.9DramSuç1929 ekonomik bunalımı; yirminci yüzyılın başından itibaren inanılmaz bir süratle kapitalistleşmeye başlayan ve adeta tepe noktasına ulaşan bir ekonominin büyük çöküşünü ifade etmektedir. Bu çöküş Amerika’nın gelişmiş serbest piyasa ekonomisine entegre olmuş tüm ülkeleri derinden etkilemiş dolaylı olarak da olsa ikinci dünya savaşına ön ayak olmuştur. Krizin yarattığı işsizlik, yoksulluk kısacası açlık muazzam boyutlara ulaşınca kanunsuz işlerde büyük bir patlama olmuştur. Özellikle kaçakçılık had sayfaya çıkmış, çıkar çatışmaları bugün gangster(yaşça büyük olanların deyimiyle gangaster) diye adlandırılan yapıyı oluşturmuştur. Haraç, kadın ticareti, alacak tahsili, kumarhane işletmeciliği gibi klasik yöntemlere ilaveten sendikacılık, içki ve silah kaçakçılığı gibi yeni yaklaşımlar ortaya çıkmış, belli bir forma bürünmüş yarı-düzenli suç şebekeleri peyda olmuştur...

Film6.6MüzikNow hear this. The studio that gave the cinema its voice offered 1929 audiences a chance to see and hear multiple silent-screen favorites for the first time in a gaudy, grandiose music-comedy-novelty revue that also included Talkie stars, Broadway luminaries and of course, Rin-Tin-Tin. Frank Fay hosts a jamboree that, among its 70+ stars, features bicyclers, boxing champ Georges Carpentier, chorines in terpsichore kickery, sister acts, Myrna Loy in two-strip Technicolor as an exotic Far East beauty, John Barrymore in a Shakespearean soliloquy (adding an on-screen voice to his legendary profile for the first time) and Winnie Lightner famously warbling the joys of Singing in the Bathtub. Watch, rinse, repeat!
