Temmuz 1995 yılında Bosna’da İngilizce öğretmeni olan Aida Selmanagic, Srebrenica’nın küçük bir kasabasında Birleşmiş Milletler’in tercümanı olarak çalışmaktadır. Sırbistan ordusu bu küçük kasabayı ele geçirdiğinde Aida’nın eşi ve iki oğlu da BM kampında sığınma arayan binlerce vatandaş arasında yer alır. Aida, Sırp ordusu iktidara geldiğinde siyasi müzakerelerin bir parçası olur ve gittikçe daha korkutucu olan bilgileri tercüme etmek zorunda kalır.
