Orduya ve savaşa karşı bir kişiliğe sahip olmakla birlikte iyi bir asker olarak dikkat çeken Kaji, aynı zamanda başına geleceklerden hiç çekinmeden doğru bildiklerini söylemeye devam etmektedir. Usta askerlere karşı kendisi gibi acemi erleri savunmaya çalışan Kaji, kendisi usta asker olup acemilerin eğitiminden sorumlu tutulduğunda tüm zorluklara karşın insani tutumunu sürdürmeye çalışacaktır.
