11 Eylül 2001'de Manhattan'daki Dünya Ticaret Merkezi kuleleri yerle bir edildikten sonra, yakın dünya tarihini değiştiren bu saldırıyı El-Kaide terör örgütü ve ABD'nin en azılı düşmanlarından biri olduğunu iddia eden Usame Bin Laden üstlenmişti. Önce Afganistan'da başlayan savaş, diğer Orta Doğu ülkelerine de yayıldı ve Pentagon saldırıların bir numaralı sorumlusu olarak gösterdiği Bin Laden'i köşe bucak aramaktan asla vazgeçmedi. Senaryosunun gerçeklere sadık kalarak kaleme alındığı filmde, Bin Laden'in saklandığı yeri tespit eden ve bu timin organizasyonunu yürüten Maya (Jessica Chastain) adlı CIA ajanı, böyle büyük bir operasyon ve bölge için oldukça genç olmasına rağmen, kendisine olan güveni ve üstün istihbarat başarısıyla Bin Laden'in yakalanmasını sağlıyor.

Yarı Çeçen yarı rus kökenli olan esrarengiz görünümlü bir adam, yasadışı yollardan Hamburg'a giriş yapar. Bir şeylerden kaçarken kendisini şehrin müslüman mahallelerinden birinde sığınmacı olarak bulur. Türk bir aile tarafından misafir edilir ve bu süreçte geçmişinden biraz da olsun kurtulmuş olur. Ancak kısa bir zaman zarfı içerisinde eve misafiri ziyaret etmeye gelenler olur ve sayıları gittikçe artar. Bu durum aileyi huzursuz etmeye ve isimsiz şüphelere itmeye başlar. Aynı zamanda Alman gizli servisinin lideri de olan bitenleri gizlice izlemeye ve parçaları birleştirmeye çalışmaktadır.

Hipatya, çalışmalarına devam eder; Dünya'nın hareketi üzerine teoriler geliştirir (Eliptik yörünge fikrine yaklaşır).Sonunda, Hristiyan lider Cyril, Hipatya'yı "cadı" ilan eder. Orestes'in onu korumasına rağmen, Parabolani çetesi Hipatya'yı taşlayarak öldürür. Film, onun trajik sonuyla biter; bilim, hoşgörü ve aklın dini fanatizm karşısında yenilgisini vurgular.

Afgan yazar Khaled Hosseini’nin aynı adlı çok satan romanından uyarlanan The Kite Runner’da, uzun yıllardır Kaliforniya’da yaşayan Amir adlı bir Afgan göçmenin, çocukluk arkadaşı Hassan’ın oğlunun başının dertte olduğunu öğrenmesinin ardından ona yardım etmek için Taliban yönetimi altındaki anavatanına geri dönüşünün öyküsü anlatılır.

İran'ın en önemli yönetmenlerinden Abbas Kiarostami, bu filminde intihar etmek isteyen orta yaşlı bir adamın, kendisini gömmek için birisini ararken ki yolculuğunu anlatıyor. Bay Badii yolculuğu esnasında üç farklı kişiden intiharından sonra kendisini gömmesini rica eder: Kürt bir askerden, Afgan bir öğretmenden ve yaşlı Türk bir tahnitçiden. Aralarından sadece biri bu teklifi kabul eder. Ancak Bay Badii bu yolculuğu esnasında bu kişilerden hayat dersi niteliğinde pek çok şey öğrenecektir.

Abgar wants to leave the village with his daughter, but his skills as a stonemason are still needed for the construction of a new mosque.
