Tomoko Saitō

Japon-Türk ortak yapımı filmde, Türk ve Japon milletlerinin dostluğunun gelişmesine ve kuvvetlenmesine sebep olan iki tarihî hikâye anlatılıyor: 1890 yılında Japon sularında batan Türk fırkateyni Ertuğrul'un mürettebatının Japonlar tarafından kurtarılma çabaları ile 1985'te İran-Irak savaşında İran'da mahsur kalan 300'den fazla Japon vatandaşının dönemin başbakanı Turgut Özal'ın talimatıyla Türk Hava Yolları tarafından tahliye edilmeye çalışılmaları. Dostluk ve barış hikâyesi Ertuğrul 1890, 39. Japon Akademi Film Ödülleri'nde En İyi Film ve En İyi Yönetmen dahil olmak üzere on dalda üstünlük ödülü kazanmıştır, En İyi Ses Kaydı ve En İyi Sanat Yönetimi dallarında birincilik ödülünü elde etmiştir.

Set in the year 1969 in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. Kyoko Noma is a loving female high school student who takes part in campus protests. One day, she meets university student Wataru Domoto in the tea cafe Mubansou ("A Cappella"). Kyoko falls in love with him, but they get involved in an incident that leads to a shocking ending.

Obayashi's take on the famous Kosuke Kindaichi series, made popular partly thanks to the numerous movie-adaptions by Kon Ichikawa, the most known being The Inugami Family. Kosuke Kindaichi is the most famous detective in Japan. Kindaichi gets a new case to figure out who has beheaded a valuable statue and made off with its head.

Kenichi, a fifth-grader, moved from Tokyo to the Ina Valley to receive treatment for his asthma. At his new elementary school, he meets Sabu, the class clown; Masaru; and Karen, a girl born in Brazil.

The wife of a samurai, who was leading a happy life, dies in a fit of wind. On the verge of death, she makes her husband promise that she will not take a second wife, and is buried in a corner of the garden, as he had wished, but of course the second wife comes. At the celebration, the husband is immediately smitten with his new wife, but the spirit begins to haunt him from the seventh day.

The Hirata are a typical family residing in picturesque Kosai, Shizuoka Prefecture. Their lives are thrown in chaos when an earthquake strikes and causes a nearby nuclear power plant to explode. They must evacuate their home.

Kawashima Toshio (Utsui Ken), an assistant professor at a university medical school and an excellent surgeon, becomes mayor after his father-in-law falls ill. The evil hand of organized crime, cleverly disguised, has begun to take hold in the city. Toshio, who has risen up to protect the citizens, is beset with family problems, including the mysterious departure of his beloved wife Yukiko (Hama Mie) from home and the resulting delinquency of his beloved daughter Mayumi (Saito Tomoko). Carrying this heavy burden, Toshio fights with the help of Nagai Masayuki (Kanda Masateru), a young newspaper reporter with whom he has a deep connection. However, in the midst of this struggle, an eerie truth about his missing wife's scandalous past and the shadow of a certain man begin to appear like a mirage...
