Film6.2DramMüzikBased on the operetta I Lost My Heart in Heidelburg, which in turn owed a lot to that old chestnut The Student Prince. In 1825, impoverished composer Max enrolls at Heidelburg University. Local girl Veronika falls in love with Max, helping him to finance his education and clear his debts. Alas, Veronika is left out in the cold when Max becomes enamored with gorgeous tourist Helene. Little does he know that Helene is the daughter of the Grand Duke, meaning of course that their romance is doomed to disappointment. Leading lady Grete Natzler later changed her screen name to Della Lynd, and under that cognomen co-starred with Laurel & Hardy in Swiss Miss (1938).

Film9.0KomediNaïve young Englishman, Silas P. Binns inherits a substantial business in Chicago. Unaware of the city's reputation for rampant organized crime during the Prohibition era, Silas arrives in America with idealistic expectations. Upon his arrival, he finds himself inadvertently caught in the middle of a fierce and dangerous turf war between rival gangster factions. The humor of the film stems from Silas's "innocent" and oblivious nature as he navigates the violent underworld of Chicago, often mistaking life-threatening situations for ordinary business or social interactions.

Film10.0KomediThis is a real corker. It starts off with a terrific routine with an erratic elevator. Lane's character, Johnny Jones, upon sight falls in love with Mary Craig (played by Kathryn McGuire who appears in a number of Lane comedies). The man who hopes to marry her is Henry Sharp played by Wallace Lupino; the title card introducing this character says" Henry Sharp – so mean he would steal a dead fly from a blind spider." Johnny agrees to do his father a favor by posing as his little boy of about 10 years old. The father had told the wealthy widow he hopes to marry that he was only 30 years old. Because of Lane's small stature this is more believable than most comedy routines that have an adult playing a child.
